Everything you need to know.
Answers to the most common questions about Vether, its licenses and how it works.
Which systems does Vether run on?
Vether targets Windows 10 (build 21H2 and later) and Windows 11 exclusively, x64 only. ARM64 and 32-bit are not supported. macOS and Linux are not on the near-term roadmap — Windows carries most of the exposure surface we address (Recall, Copilot, Defender, system telemetry).
How much setup is needed before use?
None. On first launch, a wizard computes your machine's Risk Score (0–100) across 88 indicators and offers three protection profiles: standard, hardened, maximal. You can then fine-tune each of the 1,200+ options individually at any time.
Does Vether slow down my PC?
No, quite the opposite. Disabling 30 Windows services and 105 scheduled telemetry tasks, along with automated cleanup, improves performance on most machines. The app itself is a WPF C# .NET 6 binary that only runs on demand — no resident process outside explicit actions.
Can I roll back to a previous state if I change my mind?
Yes. Every change is logged and reversible in one click. A full registry snapshot is taken before each major change (services, tasks, hosts, route table). Uninstalling fully restores your machine, including spoofed hardware serials.
What technical level is required?
None to use the three standard/hardened/maximal profiles. For experts, advanced mode unlocks the 1,200+ individual options across 12 modules: Windows (152), Telemetry (184), Hardware (77), Security (52), Disks, Cleaning (63), VPN, VirtualBox, Identity, Information, Browser, Home.
Does my data leave my machine?
No, never. The software runs entirely locally. No product telemetry, no phone-home. Only two requests go out: the update check (anonymized) and Ed25519-signed license validation.
Does Vether collect data on its users?
Zero. Neither at the software level nor the infrastructure level. We keep no usage logs. The only data processed is what is strictly necessary for billing and license delivery (email, payment) — detailed in our privacy policy.
Is the binary signed?
Yes. Every release is Authenticode-signed with an OV certificate issued in our name. Windows verifies the signature at install time. The binary's SHA-256 hash is published on the changelog with each version.
How do I verify the integrity of the download?
Two PowerShell commands: Get-FileHash to compare the SHA-256 hash against the published one, and Get-AuthenticodeSignature to verify the digital signature. The full procedure is on the Download page.
What happens if I uninstall Vether?
The uninstaller fully restores your machine to its original state — system settings, services, registry, network hosts. No residual traces, no hidden dependencies.
Is it legal to use Vether?
Yes. Vether helps you exercise a fundamental right: control over your digital privacy. None of its features breach French or European law. You remain responsible for using it in compliance with applicable laws.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Bank card via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and cryptocurrency via our own BTCPay node: Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) and Monero (XMR). An automatic 5% discount applies to any crypto payment.
Is there any automatic renewal?
It depends on the payment method. By card, all four plans (1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years) are subscriptions that renew automatically at the same price; you can cancel in one click from your account and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. The 2-year plan and every cryptocurrency payment are one-time purchases, with no renewal.
How many machines per license?
One license covers one active machine at a time. You can revoke and transfer it between your machines in two clicks from your customer area.
What is your refund policy?
The 14-day right of withdrawal applies as long as the software has not been downloaded and activated (article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code). For any request, write to us at [email protected].
Is there a business or multi-seat plan?
A Teams plan (from 5 seats) is in the works, with a centralized admin console and volume pricing. Write to [email protected] to be notified when it opens.
Can I pay in cryptocurrency anonymously?
Yes. Crypto payment (BTC, LTC, XMR only) requires no account creation. Only an email address (which can be disposable) is needed to receive your license key. Monero (XMR) offers the best transaction privacy.
How do I contact support?
Four channels: [email protected] (reply within 24 business hours), our Telegram channel @vether_support (business hours), [email protected] for responsible disclosure (within 72h), [email protected] for sales and press.
Is there official documentation?
Yes. The Help Center gathers over 75 articles across 12 categories that mirror the app's 12 modules — installation, Windows hardening, telemetry, Mullvad VPN, VirtualBox, VeraCrypt, identities, Schannel/crypto, and more. Full-text search is in the works.
Do you offer training?
Getting-started videos are published on our YouTube channel. For businesses, a personalized onboarding session can be arranged with the Teams plan.
Is Vether open source?
The main software is proprietary. However, our verification tools (signature, hash, manifest) are published under the MIT license. Transparency is our only verifiable promise — you can audit what you install.
